Time and time again, I get into the debate with people at my college about what is so important about education. A lot of people say that the sole purpose of education is to give you the skills you need so that you can get a good paying job. When I hear this, I am completely amazed. I have seen people with no degree at all make a lot of money. The importance of education is a lot more than just getting a good job.
Education is a tool meant to brighten one's life. By using education, one can learn knowledge far greater than just "how do I properly assemble this battery?" Instead, they learn things such as language, literature, life sciences, arithmetic, and so many other things that can make someone a better person. For instance, if you are working as an electrician, having a strong command of economics could allow you to run your own business efficiently.
Education is not only meant as a tool so that you are able to earn more money. The importance of education is so much deeper; it is the very basis in which we can judge our life. The more we know, the wiser we are, the more capable we are to bring about change in what we want. It is not all about money in the world.
